Ministers of the Word are called to proclaim the Word of God to the assembly during Masses. Lectors read Scripture from the Old and New Testaments, and lead the congregation in the Prayers of the Faithful.

Each new lector receives a brief training session to review current guidelines and procedures and is given a workbook to assist in preparation to proclaim the readings. Lectors are asked to serve approximately once per month. Brief meetings are held intermittently throughout the year. Anyone with good communication and public speaking skills, who is also willing to prepare for the readings both technically and spiritually, is encouraged to join.
